COMMON TERMS
PI- Performance Improved As in the performance improved intakes and heads found on 02+ Mustangs and 04½+ panthers.
NPI or Non PI- Non Performance Improved All pre 2002 modular motor heads and intakes.
BOF- Body On Frame
4R7xE/W- Four speed Rear drive 7x Newtonmeter of torque(possibly) Wide Ratio or Electronic. Transmission based off the AODE, all variants are controlled by a PCM.
AOD/E- Automatic OverDrive/Electronic. Four speed Transmission found in pre1995 Panther cars.
JMod- A modification of the 4R7x transmission that is the main way to unlock it's best potential increasing its operating life, allowing better flow of atf through the valvebody, allowing it to handle more torque. Named after transmission designer; Jerry, it's said the 4R70W was originally designed like this. Testers claimed it shifted too rough, so his opinion and design was stifled to make the transmission for friendly(read numb and unknown lifespan).
PCM- Powertrain Control Module
Cop Chip*- Mystical power engine program chip found in P71/B cars that unleashes the full horsepower potential ranging from 300 to 600 horsepower depending on the highway persuit, detective, chief, or interceptor variants.
DOHC/4V- Dual Over Head Cam/Four Valve The mod motors that utilize four valves per cylinder controlled by two camshafts in each head. Also called 32V or Valve, such as the 32V Intech v8 in the Lincoln Mark VIII.
Interceptor Motor*- Legendary v8 or v10 used specifically in P71/B cars, usually noted by the Police Interceptor badge on the back of vehicles allegedly equipped. It's said that police departments often replace these with civilian 4.6 engines during decomissioning processes. Sometimes they forget or are in too much a hurry to remove it. These engines already have cop chips to supplement their already high horsepower and torque.
Peelformance White-  The crappy white paint Ford used for a number of years for fleet and sales cars, a single stage paint. Unlike the other colors, this one is known for peeling, flaking, and generally falling off the car, the quickest to do so. Sometimes all it takes is to look at it too long.
Bumpertuck- The act of lifting the bottom edge of the rear bumper as high as it can go, "tucking" it underneath the car. Mainly done aesthetically, but can reduce some rear underbody drag. Was originally done to fix the saggy diaper appearance our heavy bumper covers often get as they age.
LCM- Lighting Control Module- Controls all the lights and chimes the car is equiped with. Known to have failing solder or a [often considered] too small a relay. It's located under the dash near the trans tunnel.
Hyperflashing- What happens when you install LED lights to the blinkers or tail lights, the LCM thinks a bulb is out and without the proper loads, causing the lights to flash versus blink.
Watts-Link- The watts-linkage is a lateral locating device, that connects to the axle pumkin and to the framerails or related near the wheels. It allows the axle to evenly move up and down with the jounce and rebound of the suspension. Typically far better than a panhard bar. The watts on our cars are "front mounted" meaning instead of mounted on the rear of the axle, it's mounted above the pinion output.

Whale-1998 to 2011 Panther bodystyle

Aerovic or Aero- 1992 to 1997 Panther bodystyle

Box- 1979 to 1991 Panther bodystyle

Panther- The chassis name for the BOF platform that existed from  1976 to 2011

* Doesn't fucking exist. Although cop chip could ve reference to the defunct company Blue Oval Chips. All Panthers come equiped with a 4.6 liter, that's 4600cc's 281 cubic inch v8 engine(1992-2011), or a 302 cubic inch 5.0(technically 4.9) liter v8 or 351 cubic inch 5.8liter v8(pre 1992).

Welcome To Panther Platform Info

With the unknown fate of CrownVic.Net(CVN), I decided to take what I can to preserve the invaluable knowledge on the site, as well as anywhere else I can find it. Whatever pictures are there are what it is, espcially with the advent as all us forum users have been aware of for a  year or two; Photobuckets greedy, moronic act of making hyperlinking images a part of paid member services. If the king shall fall; there are other places you can join as a panther owner. I am also updating this entry to say; I do not own any of the pictures you find here! They were saved or screenshot from various messageboards and websites, posted by members of therein, or owners of sites. I hate to have to say all this, but people get stupid or petty. All I'm doing is compiling as much info as I can, that could be lost, or not found where ever. As well as new things.  The pictures oughta be free use, as they are informative or posted to help others. It also keeps the pics from getting lost for what

Modding Your Panther

I know many prefer to mod their Vic or Marquis, some even a Town Car. You joined a site like CVN or PBB, or simply found threads through google and see people talking about mods or posting build or mod threads. Let me tell you despite how common these cars are, they aren't really ever looked at from a performance standpoint and those of us who see the possibility aren't as common in the community compared to those who just want to drive the car, has it as a winter beater, wreck and otherwise commit herecy by using it in demo derbys, or perhaps the worst offense; donking one out.  We should be ever thankful for the likes of ADTR for giving us the opertunity. You'll see most of what's out there is pricey. We are a nichè folk and in the grand scheme the little that's out there isn't too much more in price than other cars. A set of performance RCAs for a Mustang isn't $50 because people love them more for performance. As such; for somebody wanting to mod their c

Modding part two

I want to add that first; modding your panther won't be cheap. I forgot to mention that, the first time. We don't have the vast amount of parts, say a Mustang, or Civic would have. Secondly; what we do have is in a way expensive... or cheap bastards such as myself and cheap Panther owners might say the parts are expensive. If you compare some of it to other cars, you'll see the prices are about the same, though. We should be thankful that anybody took the time to engineer parts for our cars, since it's not seen as a performance platform. I'm betting the Maurader had some play in that. You'll see.many people say "GeT a MuStAnG."  I like them too, but I love sedans and these cars can be built to perform fine. You'll also see things like it's too heavy. Yes and no. Average wieght of Panthers is between 3800 and 4200 lbs. Mine was wieghed on a junk scale at 3950 with me, another person, some carry junk in it. I was around 250lbs and the other per
