I own a 2008 white with tan interior ex New Albany Indiana CVPI that I bought from a used car lot local to me called H. L. Shelby. They mainly sell retired police cars. My car has 3:55 rear axle ratio, vinyl rear seats, cloth front, a Jotto Desk center console, which I removed the swivel part of the laptoo mount from. It retains the slider and is missing the key to the compartment lock. I so far have added LED tail lights and headlights. I got the 3 sided LED geadlight bulbs from Auxbeam, the rear bulbs are from Autozone; the high endish Sylvania ZEVO 3157s. For the newbs out there, there are four bulbs in rhe rear. Yes it hyperflashes, I like the fact that it does. I installed a Kenwood bluetooth HD radio(KMM-BT515HD). I also had some black silver striped valvestem covers from the ricer aisle. I also made my own headlight relay conversion with its own fusebox. I also adjusted the trunk tortion rods to helo the trunk open a bit more.
I've wanted one for years, they are what I call a realistic dream car, something fairly attainable. I in a way was blessed with the chance to get one I otherwise would never have the monetary oppertunity to get one. I had a 2014 Taotao Quantum Tour 150cc scooter I waa t-boned on November of 2016. By the end of Jan 2017 I got my settlement check and after replacing a few items and living like a middle-class civilian, I bought the car.
Where did the name come from? I always loved watching Top Gear Europe and Jeremy Ckarkson would make comments about American cars being tanks; heavy, big, lazy v8s. He calls us, as many do across the pond, "Yanks."
Currently the transmission is dead in the Yank Tank, and I had got in to an accident. I've had trouble garnering the funds to fix it. I desperately turned to making a GoFundMe account and so far nobody cares enough to even donate a dollar. I was getting all the cosmetic parts nyself, the account is mainly to cover shop cost and the trans rebuild. Sigh.
I have a few ideas for it, but I just want to drive the damn thing.
UPDATE: My car has been impounded by the Dicks. Monday Jan 28; the day I burried my dad, they took my car and my GoFundMe campaign was deactivated because nobody cared to help, and I couldn't get the funds. So I've lost the car permanately. Yes I am salty about all of it.
